Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza Appointed as Corps Commander Rawalpindi

Pakistan Army has appointed Lieutenant General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as the new Corps Commander Rawalpindi. Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Azhar Abbas will replace him as the Chief of the General Staff.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR), the development came on Tuesday during the reshuffling of four three-star generals.

Lt Gen Waseem Ashraf, who had served as the Commander of Strike Corps Multan, has been assigned the post of Director General (DG) Joint Staff Headquarters. Lt Gen Muhammad Chiragh Haider will replace him as Corps Commander Multan. He was previously serving as the DG Joint Staff Headquarters.

The new postings and transfers have come over a month before the retirement of three lieutenant generals. Inspector General Arms Lt Gen Majid Ehsan, Quarter Master General Lt Gen Aamir Abbasi, and Commander Army Air Defence Lt Gen Hamooduz Zaman will retire next month after completing their services.
