Huawei Mate 50 May Launch in 2022 With Snapdragon 898

Huawei Mate 50’s launch has been a mixed bag since the beginning, at least as far as rumors go. Some reports in the past few weeks predicted that it would launch during Q4 this year but we are getting contradictory news once again.

Tipster Digital Chat Station has reason to believe that the Huawei Mate 50 will, in fact, launch during Q1 2021. He claims that the phone will feature the 4G only version of Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 898.

This report either contradicts previous predictions of an October 2021 launch date, or it is simply pointing to an extensive gap between launch and availability date. We have seen it happen with other phones before, especially when there is a very limited amount of units available in the market. These phones usually arrive at the market months after their announcement and are quickly gone from the shelves too.

This would come as no surprise from Huawei since the company has been unable to source components for ages. Even the Huawei Mate 40 was produced in a limited amount and was quickly off the market soon after launch.

The tipster claims that it will sport the SM8425 SoC, which is the model number for Qualcomm’s next flagship SoC, but the Snapdragon 898 moniker has not been confirmed as of yet.
