As per reports, the suicide bomber who attacked the capital last month had his militant indoctrination in Afghanistan in 2022. This is based on the analysis of the bomb detonated in the capital’s area I-10/4 on December 23. He arrived from Afghanistan around late 2022 and resided in Parachinar, Kurram Agency.
The suicide bomber moved around before arriving in the city on December 23, including Hangu, where he lodged with a facilitator who transported him to the federal capital in the early hours at Pirwadhai Bus Station.
Based on the reports, the facilitator ascertained the bomber entered a cab and then fled the scene. The investigation indicated that he was carrying the explosives in a backpack, although it is unclear if the bag was supplied to him or if he arrived with it.
After reaching the terminal, the terrorist used a mobile phone to communicate with someone (perhaps another facilitator). This second person’s location was tracked down near the Pirwadhai Bus Station, where he had remained for several days.
The explosive used in the incident was Trinitrotoluene (TNT), approximately 12 to 14 kgs. In the past, C4 (Composition 4, incorporating RDX) was used by local insurgents and terrorists to carry out similar assaults. The bomber detonated by removing a pin that was linked to it. Investigators discovered the pin at the scene.
The bomber was 22 years old, a resident of Khyber District, and had attended a seminary, authorities claimed. They indicated that the suicide bomber’s target had yet to be established.
It should be noted that a police official and a cab driver hired by the suicide attacker to transport him to an unknown destination were killed, while four police officers were wounded in the bomb blast.
