PM Urges Timely Supply of Fertilizer to Farmers for Upcoming Rabi Crop

A review meeting on the supply of urea for the upcoming Rabi crop was convened on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar.

The meeting focused on the imperative need for an uninterrupted and punctual supply of fertilizer to the farmers, along with ensuring an adequate buffer stock of fertilizers. The premier emphasized that it was essential to safeguard the interests of farmers by ensuring that they receive fertilizers on time. He stressed that the district administration should vigilantly monitor fertilizer prices to prevent any unjustified increases.

During the meeting, participants were provided with detailed information about the current fertilizer production levels and the expected demand for fertilizers in the country. Additionally, the decisions taken by the Economic Coordination Committee to maintain an uninterrupted supply of fertilizer were reviewed.

PM Kakar instructed relevant ministries to prepare and submit a comprehensive action plan to ensure the continuous supply of fertilizer for the Rabi crop. The meeting also delved into the pricing of raw materials for fertilizer production, the current price of fertilizer, the supply of gas to fertilizer factories, and the demand for these essential agricultural inputs.

In a separate meeting with the PM today, Murtaza Hashwani, Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Services Limited, discussed the ongoing efforts to stabilize the country’s economy. The discussions revolved around tapping into the nation’s business potential and the possibility of a business partnership between the government and the country’s business community through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The prime minister acknowledged the immense tourism potential spanning from Khunjerab Pass to Swat and proposed that significant development in the tourism sector could be achieved with the cooperation of Pakistani businesses and Chinese partners.

Furthermore, talks centered on the utilization of state-owned entities in strategic locations for business activities through public-private partnerships.
