Punjab Announces Paid Internships for Students

The Punjab government has introduced the Chief Minister Climate Leadership Development Internship Programme titled “Mera Punjab Smog Free,” aimed at empowering young graduates to contribute to the province through community service. CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized the collective responsibility to eradicate smog permanently, inviting graduates who have completed their degrees in the last two years to participate. Interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs25,000 as they engage in community service and environmental protection under the Smog-Free Punjab Initiative.

Registration for the internship, open until July 20, 2024, is available to individuals aged 18 to 25. Participants will earn a ‘Community Service Certificate’ upon completion. CM Nawaz urged public support in combating smog by promoting tree planting, reducing vehicle and factory emissions, minimizing plastic use, and abstaining from crop residue burning.

Additionally, the CM expressed appreciation for the Pakistan Flour Mills Association’s decision to call off their strike in Punjab, encouraging dialogue and cooperation on issues like withholding tax. She assured proactive engagement in addressing legitimate concerns of the association for mutual resolution.
