On Tuesday night, Karachi experienced its hottest night of July for the second time this month, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The temperature reached a minimum of 32 degrees Celsius, matching the record set on July 1 for the city’s highest nighttime temperature ever recorded in July.
Karachi’s average temperature for July is 27.9 degrees Celsius, making the recent nights 4.1 degrees Celsius warmer than usual.
The PMD attributed the prolonged heat to the incomplete return of sea breezes. High humidity levels have also intensified the heat, making it feel more severe.
The Met Office has forecasted that a new monsoon spell will affect Sindh, including Karachi, starting around July 18 or 19.
Although there was some scattered rain last week, residents have recently faced persistently high temperatures.
With sea breezes blowing at 18 kilometers per hour, the maximum temperature in Karachi is expected to range between 34°C and 36°C, with a recorded minimum of 30.5°C.
