In response to an investigation into allegations of fraudulent recruitment and promotions, the National Assembly Secretariat has taken action by eliminating 200 positions.
The inquiry uncovered discrepancies and irregularities in the appointment and promotion processes.
The positions, ranging up to grade 22, were eliminated to address irregularities identified in the staffing practices at the National Assembly Secretariat.
Sources revealed that out of the Secretariat’s total of 1,700 positions, 200 were removed. The action was taken following the revelation of widespread illegal recruitment and promotions within the Secretariat in recent years.
Specifically, three grade 22 positions were removed, reducing the remaining grade 21 positions to just ten within the Secretariat. As per a report, a grade 22 secretary stepped down due to the ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct.
Meanwhile, an additional secretary was issued a show-cause notice related to their involvement. Furthermore, two government officials are being investigated for allegedly falsifying records, misleading senior officials, and deceiving the Finance Committee.
