93% of Raw Milk is Substandard in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority has reported that 93% of raw milk tested was substandard. Of the 583 samples analyzed, 541 were found to be contaminated.

According to the KP Food Authority’s report, 583 samples were collected from 324,000 liters of milk across the province. Of these, only 42 samples, or 7 percent met the required standards.

Seven samples were adulterated with water, 106 contained glucose, 17 had formaldehyde, and 18% of the samples were mixed with dry powder.

In Peshawar, 94% of the milk was substandard, while 87% of the milk in Mardan did not meet quality standards. Officials have urged consumers to verify that raw milk is free from adulterants before buying.
