Xiaomi has stopped giving software updates to many of its older phones, including some big sellers. The company has updated its End-Of-Life (EOL) list for smartphones which shows which devices will no longer get any support.
This EOL list includes names from several of its brands such as Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco. Popular models like the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Redmi Note 10 series are also named in it. This means no more new features or security fixes for these devices.
Specifically, Xiaomi has dropped support for phones like the Mi 10S, Mi 10 Pro, Mi 10, Mi 10 Ultra, Mi 11 Lite 5G, and a lot more. Here is the full list of Xiaomi phones:
- Xiaomi Mi 10s
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 10
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra
- Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G
As for Redmi’s highly popular Note series, these phones will no longer be getting any software updates:
- Redmi Note 10 Pro
- Redmi Note 10
- Redmi Note 10 5G
- Redmi Note 10T
- Redmi Note 8 (2021)
There is just a single Poco phone mentioned in the list, which is the M3 Pro 5G that came out in 2021.
Xiaomi phones on the end-of-life list won’t get updates to fix bugs or protect them from possible security flaws. This is normal for phone companies, but it still leaves users in a tough spot.
People with these old phones can keep using them, but they risk staying on less secure versions of software. Or, they can buy a new phone to stay safe. However, users with more tech-savvy skills can also try getting custom ROMs for their devices, but that also comes with risks unless you know what you’re doing.
