Flood Warning Issued in Karachi for The Next 2 Days

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned about possible urban flooding in the Karachi Division for the next two days. This comes as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in the city.

“There is a high likelihood of torrential downpours in most parts of Karachi from today [August 4] until August 6,” the NDMA said in a statement on Sunday.

The NDMA warned that the heavy monsoon rains could cause significant flooding in Karachi. It advised the public to stay updated on weather conditions and exercise caution.

Residents should be prepared for possible flooding in the coming days. The NDMA has advised local authorities to prepare emergency plans and ensure they have enough resources for rescue and relief.

“Clear gutters and drainage systems to avoid water accumulation. Secure any loose items outside that could be blown away or damaged by strong winds and heavy rain,” it added.

The NDMA has advised against walking, swimming, or driving through flooded areas and suggested using alternative routes to avoid such zones. It further stated that citizens should be cautious of open manholes and hidden obstacles in the water.

Moreover, the authority has advised unplugging electrical appliances during heavy rains to prevent short circuits and avoid touching electrical equipment with wet hands.
