The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting heavy rain across over 30 districts in Punjab within the next 24 hours, resulting in alerts from multiple government agencies.
According to the PMD’s forecast, rain, windstorms, and thundershowers are expected in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, and other parts of Punjab today.
Intermittent rain, wind, and thunderstorms are forecasted for Kashmir, along with isolated heavy rainfall in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has alerted districts expecting heavy rain and severe weather. Deputy commissioners have been advised to stay vigilant and ensure that all relevant departments are prepared for emergencies.
The PDMA has issued warnings about potential high to very high flood levels in hilly regions, attributing the increased water flow to persistent rain in the Mount Suleiman area. Authorities in Dera Ghazi Khan have been directed to establish emergency control rooms and ensure Rescue 1122 disaster response teams are on high alert.
