Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD is set to officially launch its brand in Pakistan on August 17th, 2024, creating a buzz among electric vehicle enthusiasts. This exciting development comes as BYD partners with Mega Motor Company (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of Hub Power Company Limited (HUBCO).
In a move that signals its serious intentions for the Pakistani market, BYD has recently imported test units of the SeaLion 6, a plug-in hybrid SUV. This introduction of the Sealion 6 indicates that BYD is preparing to launch it for local consumers in Pakistan.
BYD’s plans for Pakistan are ambitious, with a focus on rolling out a range of fully electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Known for its global dominance in the new energy vehicle sector, BYD became the world’s leading seller of new energy vehicles in both 2022 and 2023.
This entry into Pakistan’s automotive scene is expected to spark healthy competition, providing consumers with more choices and driving the market towards sustainable options.
