The Punjab government has removed the restrictions on the transfers and postings of teachers in government schools. According to the School Education Department, teachers can submit transfer applications from August 12 to August 31.
The School Education Department will conclude the application review by September 5. Those who face rejection can appeal from September 6 to 9. Transfer orders are scheduled to be released on September 19.
In May, the education department introduced a new transfer policy for teachers. According to the new policy, teachers can apply for transfers year-round based on hardship criteria, including disability, widowhood, divorce, or long-distance issues.
The new policy allows for general and mutual transfers twice a year, while inter-district and wedlock transfers can be applied for throughout the year. All types of promotions need to be finalized within 30 days, and district committees must process applications within this timeframe.
