Under the proposed policy, inmates convicted of minor offenses will be removed from prison to participate in sanitation and plantation activities, while those with specific skills will be employed in related sectors. This approach aims to alleviate prison overcrowding by releasing these individuals upon completion of their sentences.

The Standing Committee has forwarded the recommendations to the Punjab Cabinet for review. The policy will be implemented once it receives approval from the Cabinet.
