Punjab Plants 3 Million Trees in One Day Under Green Pakistan Initiative

The Punjab Forest Department has launched an extensive tree-planting campaign under the “Green Pakistan Initiative” to celebrate the 77th Independence Day. This effort is in line with the vision of a “Green and Prosperous Pakistan.”

For the first time, paragliders were used in the hilly regions of Chakwal district to disperse 20,000 seed balls. In the Murree Division, helicopters distributed 20 kg of pine seeds in collaboration with the SIFC and the Pakistan Army.

The campaign’s goal is to plant over 10 million trees across Punjab. On a single day, various government departments planted more than 3 million trees. The Forest Department spearheaded the effort with 1.5 million plantings, while the Education, Health, and District Administration departments collectively planted 1.4 million. Parks and Horticulture managed the planting of 100,000 trees.

Each planting activity will be tracked using geotagging and uploaded to the “Plant for Pakistan” app. This initiative is part of a larger monsoon tree planting campaign, supported by SIFC, aimed at fostering a sustainable and green future for Pakistan.
