To combat fraud, the Board of Revenue (BoR) Punjab has approved steps to modernize and digitize the e-stamp paper system during a full board meeting chaired by Senior Member BoR Nabeel Javed on Friday.
The meeting, attended by high-ranking officials like Member Colonies Malik Abdul Waheed and Chief Settlement Commissioner Khalid Saleem, approved 14 agenda items, including restructuring colony branches in all Punjab districts.
A committee has been set up to assess the extension of lease periods for government land assigned to agricultural graduates. This committee will provide its recommendations on the lease policy within two weeks.
The meeting also approved reforms in the Board of Revenue’s tax department to boost tax collection efficiency. Furthermore, enhancements to the BoR’s internal audit system were sanctioned to ensure greater transparency in managing government lands, recovering dues from illegal occupants, and auditing both commercial and agricultural properties.
Nabeel Javed directed board members to maintain transparency in the auction and leasing of government lands and to make all pertinent information available online. Moreover, the board discussed a proposal to move all registrations to a digital, paperless system.
