All educational institutions, including universities, colleges, and schools, within the municipal limits of Tehsil Rawalpindi, excluding the cantonment area, will remain closed on Monday, August 26, 2024, due to the Chehlum procession.
The decision was announced in a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi. The closure is intended to ensure the safety and security of students and staff during the religious observance.
Previously, the Punjab government announced a local holiday in Lahore District on Monday, August 26, 2024, to honor the 981st Annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA).
The announcement was made through a notification by the Services and General Administration Department (Welfare Wing) on Tuesday. This district-level holiday will apply to all government offices in Lahore, except for the Punjab Civil Secretariat, its Attached Departments, and Regional Offices.
Moreover, the government of Sindh has also announced a holiday for all the public and private schools in the province on August 26 on account of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam-e-Hussain.
According to a notification issued on Friday, all public and private educational institutions under the Sindh College Education Department’s jurisdiction will be closed on Monday, August 26, 2024, for Chehlum observances. This day marks 40 days after Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and other martyrs of Karbala.
