Redmi made an addition to the smartwatch market today with its Watch 5 Active. This latest offering brings notable features, including a long-lasting battery that can go up to 18 days between charges. The device sports a 2-inch IPS LCD touchscreen and comes with Bluetooth calling capabilities, enhanced by clear+ noise cancellation technology.
At the heart of the Redmi Watch 5 Active is Xiaomi’s HyperOS, ensuring smooth operation and wide compatibility. The watch can easily pair with smartphones running Android 6.0 or later, as well as iOS 12 and above, utilizing Bluetooth 5.3 for connection.
Users can manage their watch through the handy Mi Fitness companion app. The display has a resolution of 320 x 385 pixels and a brightness of 500 nits. Durability hasn’t been overlooked, with Redmi opting for a sturdy zinc alloy metal for the watch’s body construction.
It offers an array of over 200 customizable watch faces, allowing users to personalize their devices as they please. Fitness tracking is a key feature, with the watch being capable of monitoring an extensive range of 140+ sports and workout modes. What’s more, it can automatically detect when you’ve started exercising.
The device keeps an eye on vital health metrics, including heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep patterns, and stress levels. But the watch’s features extend beyond health and fitness tracking.
Users can access Amazon’s Alexa right from their wrist, quickly respond to messages, and make calls using a built-in keypad dialer. The watch allows you to store up to ten favorite contacts for easy access.
Durability is another strong point of this smartwatch. With an IPX8 rating, it can withstand water submersion up to 1 meter deep, making it suitable for swimming and other water-based activities.
Powering all these features is a 470 mAh battery. As mentioned earlier, this battery can last 12 days under heavy use, as per Redmi’s claims. Lighter use can extend the battery life to 18 days.
