Provincial Minister for Agriculture Sindh Sardar Muhammad Bukhsh Khan Mahar Thursday said due to the recent rains the province has suffered a loss of Rs. 4 billion in the cotton crop.
Talking to the media, the minister said the loss of farmers due to the rains in 2022 was compensated, and this time too, we are making a plan to do the same.
He said that he has held a meeting with the fertilizer companies to ensure the supply of fertilizers to farmers. He highlighted that farmers were facing several issues related to fertilizers.
“We have a plan to eliminate fertilizer hoarding and black marketing and to control fertilizer smuggling,” he added.
In this regard, coordination between the district administration, agriculture department, and fertilizer companies was necessary.
The provincial minister said that powers have been transferred to the inspectors of the Agriculture Department. We need to take action against dealers who manufacture fake fertilizers and create fluctuations in fertilizer prices, besides action will also be taken against counterfeit pesticide manufacturers.
