Tecno Announces Its Own Generative AI Features for Smartphones

In 2024, AI capabilities are almost necessary for tech companies, and Tecno is no exception. At the IFA event in Berlin, Tecno unveiled its latest innovation, “AI Vision.”

Contrary to what the name might suggest, AI Vision isn’t a physical product like glasses or contact lenses. Instead, it’s a comprehensive suite of AI features designed to boost productivity, add practical value, and make creative tasks more enjoyable. These features will soon be integrated into Tecno’s extensive device ecosystem.

At the heart of AI Vision is the updated Ella AI Assistant, which is intriguingly “connected to Gemini,” though the specifics of this connection remain unclear. Ella boasts “smart Q&A conversational functionality,” enabling it to engage users in interactive conversations.

One of these features is real-time translation, which can convert speech into text during phone calls or face-to-face interactions, making communication seamless across languages.

The AI Writing tool offers a range of capabilities, including summarizing text content, proofreading, rewriting in various styles, and even generating new text from scratch, catering to diverse writing needs.

AI Search is Tecno’s version of Google’s Circle to Search features and works similarly. You highlight any content on the screen by drawing a circle and the AI will look it up for you.

Additionally, the AI Artboard feature allows users to create artistic masterpieces in different styles, all based on a simple text prompt.

AI Erase allows users to remove unwanted people or objects from their photos, providing a cleaner image. AI Portrait Beautification gives users the ability to customize their appearance in photos, tailoring their look to personal preferences.

For those looking to manipulate images further, AI Cutout enables the selection and extraction of specific parts of an image, which can then be shared in chats or used to create new images. On the video front, AI Video Production assists with script writing and adds subtitles during post-production, streamlining the video creation process.
