Lioness Gives Birth to 3 Cubs at Karachi Zoo

An official noted that the cubs were separated from the male lion immediately after birth to ensure their safety. “A team of experts is providing proper care to the cubs. They will be transferred to a regular enclosure once they reach eight weeks of age,” the official added.

Due to the vulnerability of lion cubs in their early weeks, visitors will not be able to see them for about two months. The cubs are born blind and are entirely dependent on their mother during this period.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab expressed his delight at the birth and reiterated his commitment to upgrading the zoo with modern facilities and adding more animals to its collection.

In August, two lion cubs were also born at the zoo, marking the first birth among the big cats at the facility in over 12 years. The lions and pumas were part of a gift to the KMC from a private zoo in March.
