FBR Says No Extension in Income Tax Filing Deadline, Warns Non-Filers of Strict Action

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has made it clear that there would be no extension in the deadline for filing income tax returns.   

FBR officials said that till now 1.4 million returns have been filed and said that the deadline would not be extended from September 30, 2024.  

FBR also warned that non-fillers could face several consequences including blocking of mobile SIMs and disconnection of electricity and gas meters.

The FBR warned that after issuing notices to non-filers, strict action would be taken that could even include freezing of bank accounts. 

According to the FBR, individuals with an annual income exceeding Rs. 600,000 are required to file tax returns. Additionally, owners of houses, properties, or vehicles must also file income tax returns.
