KP and Google to Give Digital Skills Scholarships to Thousands of Youngsters

In a significant step toward building a digitally empowered and economically resilient Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB), under the leadership of the Honorable Chief Minister Mr. Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, has unveiled a series of groundbreaking initiatives.

These initiatives aim to boost digital skills, foster entrepreneurial innovation, and create job opportunities across the province.

Key Announcements:

1. Digital Internship Program Launch
   The KPITB has launched its Digital Internship Program, offering 200 internship opportunities to young graduates to train them in industry-demanded skills. These interns will be placed in IT companies located in IT parks in Peshawar and Abbottabad, enabling them to gain practical experience and increase employability. The initiative was launched under the direction of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.
2. Join IT: Bridging Talent and Industry
   The new Join IT online portal was introduced to connect skilled individuals with IT companies seeking technical expertise. The platform will act as a talent demand-supply bridge, allowing organizations to find the skilled workforce they need while providing employment opportunities to local talent. This initiative was also launched by the Chief Minister.
3. Google Partnership for Digital Skills Scholarships
   KPITB has partnered with Google through Tech Valley to offer scholarships to 5,000 youth from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, enabling them to earn certifications in high-demand digital skills. This partnership will help bridge the gap between traditional education and industry requirements, equipping the youth with skills that can drive innovation and economic growth.
4. 2024 Startup Cohort Welcomed at Durshal
   The Chief Minister also welcomed the 2024 cohort of startups incubated at Durshal, KPITB’s flagship business incubation center. The new cohort, consisting of 20 startups from districts such as Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, and Swat, marks a continued commitment to supporting entrepreneurial innovation. Since its inception, Durshal has incubated 173 startups, creating over 1,600 direct jobs and generating PKR 751 million in revenue.
5. Government Innovation Fellowship Program
   The Government Innovation Fellowship Program has onboarded a new group of fellows who will work with government departments to identify challenges and develop digital solutions. This program is designed to drive innovation within the public sector and streamline service delivery.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister said, “We are committed to transforming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a hub of digital excellence. These initiatives will not only equip our youth with the necessary skills but also create an ecosystem that nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship,”

“Creating jobs and earning opportunities for the youth specifically and for KP in general are our top priorities,” the CM added.
