Pakistan’s fast-bowling sensation, Naseem Shah is among the standout international players for the much-anticipated SA20 2025 auction.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced the auction for its third season of the SA20, set to take place on October 1 in Cape Town. This year’s auction promises to be a thrilling event, featuring a diverse pool of talent with 115 South African players and 75 international stars vying for a spot in the prestigious T20 league.
Naseem Shah is joined by other notable international cricketers such as Shamar Joseph, Josh Little, Saqib Mahmood, Qais Ahmad, and Kamindu Mendis. The auction will see participation from players representing 14 different countries, underscoring the global appeal of the SA20 league.
The competition for a place in the league is fierce, with CSA receiving applications from over 600 players. However, only 13 players will be sold during this highly competitive auction, making it a crucial event for franchises looking to bolster their squads.
Graeme Smith, the league commissioner, expressed his excitement about the upcoming auction, stating, “Some of the biggest names on the international T20 circuit have already signed up for season 3, and I am looking forward to seeing how the teams finalize their squads from this competitive auction list of players.”
Each franchise will have the opportunity to assemble a squad of 19 players, consisting of 10 South Africans, 7 international players, one rookie, and one wildcard pick. The rookie draft, which follows the auction, allows teams to select any South African player aged 22 or below. Rookies can be chosen during the initial auction or in the subsequent draft if they remain unsold.
