Qatar has achieved a significant milestone as it joins a select group of countries whose citizens can travel to the United States without a visa. This makes Qatar the second Muslim-majority and first Arab nation to be admitted into the visa waiver program.
The Departments of State and Homeland Security collaborated in announcing Qatar’s eligibility, citing criteria such as a low visa refusal rate, minimal visa overstays, and a commitment to reciprocity for American travelers already enjoying visa-free access to Qatar for up to 30 days.

In their joint statement, the departments emphasized Qatar’s role as a strong partner to the United States, highlighting their growing strategic relationship. Qatar, with a population of just over 3 million, of which approximately 320,000 are Qatari citizens eligible under the program, becomes the 42nd country to join.
This initiative allows citizens from participating nations to enter the US for tourism or business without a visa for up to 90 days, facilitated through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
Starting October 1, US citizens will also benefit from visa-free stays of up to 90 days in Qatar.
