Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is set to meet with the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Jay Shah in October ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year.
This crucial meeting is set to coincide with the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, according to sources.
The PCB is currently awaiting the final approval of the Champions Trophy schedule to solidify its logistical plans. In recent discussions with ICC officials, the PCB emphasized the urgency of finalizing the schedule to ensure seamless preparations for the prestigious event.
Provisional bookings have been made based on the proposed schedule, with final confirmations pending. An official announcement from the ICC regarding the schedule is anticipated by the end of October.
The upcoming meeting between Mohsin Naqvi and Jay Shah will also address the main agenda of participation of the Indian cricket team in the Champions Trophy, which is set to take place in Pakistan.
This is particularly noteworthy as India has not toured Pakistan since 2008, and the two nations have not engaged in a bilateral series since the 2012-13 season.
Earlier, an ICC delegation conducted a thorough review of the venues in Karachi, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and Lahore.
The delegation, which included key figures such as Sarah Edgar, Aun Muhammad Zaidi, Wasim Khan, David Masker, and Mansoor Manj, expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements and protocols in place for the tournament. This positive assessment bodes well for the successful hosting of the event next year.
