The Sensitive Price Index (SPI)-based inflation for the week ended September 26, 2024, increased by 0.05 percent, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
During the week, out of 51 items, prices of 16 (31.37 percent) items increased, 09 (17.65 percent) items decreased, and 26 (50.98 percent) items remained stable.
The items, prices of which, increased during the period under review include tomatoes (5.78 percent), onions (5.49 percent), pulse gram (1.01 percent), potatoes (0.94 percent), gur (0.82 percent), firewood whole 40 kg (0.64 percent), cooked daal (0.47 percent), curd (0.32 percent), milk fresh (0.26 percent), chicken (0.25 percent), beef with bone (0.24 percent), LPG (0.15 percent), rice irri-6/9 (0.14 percent), rice basmati broken (0.11 percent), vegetable ghee dalda/habib 2.5 kg tin each (0.07 percent) and garlic (0.01 percent).
The year-on-year trend depicts an increase of 12.80 percent mainly due to increase in the prices of gas charges for q1 (570 percent), pulse gram (60.21 percent), onions (51.72 percent), tomatoes (34.34 percent), beef (25.61 percent), powdered milk (25.41 percent), shirting (20.17 percent), chicken (17.07 percent), cooked daal (15.97 percent), salt powder (15.38 percent), georgette (13.78 percent) and energy saver (12.87 percent).
