Vivo Gets Android 15 Ahead of Google for the First Time

For the first time in history, Vivo has become a brand other than Pixel and Samsung to deliver the latest major Android update. Typically it’s Google or Samsung that have the lead. Vivo announced the official release on September 30th, but some lucky users are already experiencing Android 15.

Google is still preparing to release the Android 15 update for the Pixel 9 series. The company expects the rollout in mid-October. Samsung has not yet disclosed its update schedule and is currently behind Vivo.

The Chinese brand has begun rolling out Android 15 with their custom skin Funtouch OS 15 to select devices. The lucky devices include the Vivo X100 series, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, and the iQOO 12.

Vivo users can now enjoy exciting new features with Funtouch OS 15, building on Android 15’s power. The AI-powered “Eraser” tool in the gallery, similar to Google’s Magic Eraser, removes unwanted objects with ease. Photo editing fans will love the shadow removal tool, adding even more precision to their images.

The Live Transcribe feature is another standout, converting spoken words into text in real-time, perfect for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Android 15 brings impressive features, like Private Space for managing personal apps and secure partial screen sharing.
