Pakistan Launches AI Chatbot to Help Patients With Hypertension

Pakistan has launched its healthcare AI chatbot to help patients suffering from hypertension. Called the Heart Line Chatbot, this AI tool was announced during the 27th Annual Conference of the Pakistan Hypertension League (PHL) on Monday.

This chatbot is part of the Discovering Hypertension project. It’s designed to help the 32.5 million Pakistanis with hypertension, providing information and guidance on treatment.

In Pakistan, only 11% of people with high blood pressure manage it effectively. Experts praised the chatbot, a collaboration between Discovering Hypertension and the League, for its potential to address this serious health issue.

Prof. Fawad Farooq of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) spoke about the chatbot during its launch. He commented on its potential value to patients saying:

This AI-based chatbot is a breakthrough for Pakistan’s hypertensive population. It will provide patients with immediate access to information about hypertension and its management, empowering them with knowledge.

This new chatbot will help patients and doctors alike. It will educate people about managing blood pressure through lifestyle choices and medicine.

Anyone can text the Heart Line Chatbot on WhatsApp at 0334-7777996 to learn about high blood pressure and its health effects. Organizers plan to expand the chatbot’s capabilities. Eventually, it will be able to direct users to nearby specialists and clinics for the treatment and management of hypertension.

Non-communicable diseases are a growing problem in Pakistan. Digital tools like the Heart Line Chatbot offer a promising way to address these persistent health challenges.
