WhatsApp’s Video Calls Will Make Your Face Look Better Soon

WhatsApp’s main chatting interface gets new updates all the time, but now we are about to get some useful upgrades to the video calling feature. The Meta-owned chatting app brings more than 10 filters and backgrounds for video calls, including a beauty filter.

These filters and backgrounds bring a ton of customization options. Choose from several background images, including settings like a living room, office, or beach, to replace your real-time background. Alternatively, 10 filter options, such as warm, cool, black & white, and frosted glass, can enhance your video’s appearance.

For professional settings where a virtual background isn’t appropriate, a blur option obscures your background, hiding any clutter. Additional background options include cafe, pebbles, foodie, smoosh, beach, sunset, celebration, and forest. Further filter choices include light leak, dreamy, prism light, fisheye, vintage TV, and duotone.

Next up, the “Touch Up” feature, similar to beauty filters found on some social media apps and Chinese Android phones, smoothens skin blemishes and wrinkles. For video calls in dimly lit areas, a “Low Light” option brightens the scene.  Touch-Up and Low Light features function even when using filters or virtual backgrounds.

The background and filter options will be available for group and individual video calls. WhatsApp is currently rolling out these features across the globe and it should only be a matter of time before they reach everyone.
