CM Balochistan Cancels NOCs of Underperforming Housing Schemes in Gwadar

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has ordered the cancellation of no-objection certificates (NOCs) for underperforming housing schemes in Gwadar and proposed bringing in new investor companies through a transparent process.

The directive was issued during the 29th meeting of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) governing body, which he chaired on Wednesday.

Several key issues were discussed at the meeting, including the Smart Port City project, the Gwadar Master Plan, the Safe City Project, and concerns about infrastructure and the environment. Both short-term achievements and long-term strategies of the GDA were also reviewed.

The chief minister stressed the importance of coordination among departments with comprehensive planning to transform Gwadar into a globally recognized, developed city. He emphasized prioritizing the interests of local communities, especially about the Master Plan and Shipbreaking Yard projects, addressing concerns raised by local fishermen and residents.

CM Bugti reaffirmed that Gwadar is crucial not only for the development of Balochistan and Pakistan but also holds global significance. He underscored the need for forward-thinking projects that create a favorable investment environment for international investors while ensuring that local communities are involved and consulted throughout the development process.

Addressing the issue of clean drinking water for Gwadar residents, the chief minister called for a clear division of responsibilities between the Public Health Engineering Department and GDA, noting that delays caused by reliance on each other have worsened the situation.

He also directed the GDA to increase its revenue-generating capacities to become financially self-sufficient, reducing reliance on provincial government funding. He urged the creation of profitable projects to support this goal.

Additionally, CM Bugti instructed the Quetta Electric Supply Company to prepare a feasibility report for building a feeder to ensure a stable power supply to Gwadar Hospital.

At the end of the meeting, CM Bugti, along with MNA Malik Shah Gorgage, Gwadar MPA Maulana Hidayatur Rahman, Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, and Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Mir Pasand Khan Buledi, distributed relief cheques to flood victims in Ormara tehsil.
