A tragic accident on the M2 motorway near Faizpur occurred on Tuesday, when a bus traveling from Mansehra to Lahore crashed into a van, resulting in the deaths of at least five people and injuring ten others.
The collision took place when the speeding bus rear-ended a Hiace van near the Faizpur interchange. According to motorway spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmed, authorities believe the bus driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the deadly incident.
Rescue operations were quickly launched by the motorway police, led by sector commander Ashiq Chauhan. The injured individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical care.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Masroor Alam Kolachi visited the hospital to check on the victims and support their families during this difficult time.
In related incidents, a collision between two motorcycles in Liaquatpur resulted in one fatality, though the victim’s identity has not been revealed.
Furthermore, a car hit a tractor near Jaranwala, leading to the death of a woman and injuring four others who were traveling from Lahore. In Bahawalnagar, a young man died when a lorry collided with his motorcycle, injuring two women who were also taken to the hospital.
Lastly, on the national highway near Mithri, a car and motorcycle crash led to one death and injuries to three people, including two children. Rescue teams were dispatched to help all affected.
