The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking former cricketers for the role of Head of Youth Development. Among the potential candidates, former Pakistan captain Azhar Ali has emerged as a strong contender.
The PCB Head of Youth Development will be tasked with overseeing cricket development programs for players ranging from Under-13 to Under-19. This includes collaborating closely with regional academies, coaches, and cricket associations to identify and nurture promising young talent. A key aspect of the role will be to build and maintain robust grassroots structures that facilitate the scouting and development of young cricketers nationwide.
To ensure the role is filled by a candidate with substantial experience and expertise, the PCB has set specific qualifications. Candidates must have played at least 50 Test matches or One-Day Internationals and possess Level 2 coaching accreditation. This criterion underscores the PCB’s commitment to appointing a leader with a deep understanding of the game and the ability to mentor young players effectively.
The application process is open until October 24, and the PCB is actively seeking applications from qualified individuals. In recent weeks, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has engaged in discussions with several former players about the position, highlighting the board’s proactive approach in securing the right candidate.
