No Threat to Pakistan’s Coast as Possible Storm Moves Away: PMD

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Monday that the depression over the central Arabian Sea has shifted west-northwestward over the past 10 hours.

The system now lies over the west-central Arabian Sea, positioned at approximately Latitude 16.2N and Longitude 61.0E.

According to the PMD, the depression is currently located around 1,150 kilometers southwest of Karachi, 1,080 kilometers southwest of Ormara, and 1,010 kilometers south of Gwadar. In Oman, the system is about 520 kilometers southeast of Masirah and 740 kilometers east of Salalah.

The depression is expected to move further towards the Oman coast and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area within the next 12 hours. Squally winds reaching speeds of 30-40km/hour, with gusts up to 50km/hour, are anticipated around the center of the system, while sea conditions are forecasted to remain rough until tomorrow.

Fishermen from Balochistan have been advised to remain cautious and avoid venturing into deep waters until tomorrow. The PMD assured that no part of Pakistan’s coastline is in danger from this weather system.
