KP to Ban Plastic and Vehicle Entry Fees at Tourist Locations

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Department of Environment has finalized plans to impose a ban on new settlements and plastic use at tourist spots in the province. This move aims to address environmental concerns and protect areas sensitive to climate change.

Dr. Habib, Deputy Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, confirmed that tourist destinations are facing increasing environmental threats, with pollution being a major factor. He revealed that a ban on plastic products at these sites will be implemented soon.

Furthermore, a proposal is being considered to charge a fee for vehicles entering these tourist areas. The revenue generated would be allocated towards efforts to mitigate pollution and maintain environmental sustainability.

Dr. Habib also highlighted that the Environmental Protection Council, chaired by the Chief Minister, has developed a comprehensive strategy to combat these issues. The operation will be carried out in collaboration with local district administrations to ensure effective enforcement of the new measures.
