Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved establishing three provincial authorities to oversee local development, sanitation, and horticulture in the province.
During a special meeting held on Sunday, the Punjab Development Authority, the Punjab Water & Sanitation Authority, and the Punjab Horticulture Authority were created. Legislation to formalize these bodies will be introduced later.
These provincial authorities will be responsible for developing policies and strategies at the central level, while local agencies will be tasked with implementing the plans related to development, water & sanitation, and horticulture.
The meeting also reviewed proposals for establishing governing boards and director generals for the new authorities, along with appointing management boards and managing directors at the local level.
The CM directed that streetlights be converted to solar power as soon as possible.
Provincial ministers Bilal Yasin and Zeeshan Rafique, along with the chief secretary, the principal secretary to the CM, and other senior officials, attended the meeting. The secretaries of housing and local government participated via video link.
