In collaboration with foreign airline staff, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has lodged cases against eight officials for facilitating human smuggling via air travel. Unlike the usual land routes used for smuggling illegal immigrants from Pakistan, this case involved air travel to Italy and Canada using forged documents.
The FIA charged sub-inspectors Sulyman Liaqat and Imran Shoukat, ASI Sajjad Ahmed, traffic assistants Asif Masood and Usman Aslam, and constables Nadeem Mustafa, Danish Ali, and Faisal Nazir, all stationed at Sialkot International Airport. As per details, the accused are currently out on pre-arrest bail.
According to the FIR, one suspect used a forged passport in Muhammad Irfan’s name to travel to Italy. Doha immigration deported the passenger after it was discovered that the photo on the passport was altered.
Furthermore, another incident involved suspect Arslan Aslam traveling to Canada using forged documents under the name Umer Raza. Both incidents followed a similar pattern of fraudulent documentation and eventual deportation.
The FIA inquiry confirmed that these officials were involved in aiding passengers’ departure with fake documents. Further investigation will determine the roles of other agents, officials, and airline personnel.
