Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon announced the official launch of a health insurance policy for police officers and personnel, effective from November 1.
During a meeting at the Central Police Office, he expressed appreciation to the Sindh government for this compassionate initiative. The meeting was attended by additional IGs from Karachi, CTD, operations, welfare, and various DIGs.
The Sindh government has allocated funds for this policy, providing up to Rs1 million in medical coverage for police personnel and their families at 200 private hospitals nationwide starting November 1.
The IGP highlighted that this is the first year of the health policy, urging officers to ensure its successful implementation and effectiveness in aiding those needing medical care. He stressed the need for training welfare officers and raising awareness among personnel about the policy. Additionally, efforts should focus on collecting and verifying family data through Nadra.
He called for close coordination between district focal persons from the insurance company and police welfare officers to avoid delays in accessing medical facilities due to documentation. District officers and unit in-charges were directed to hold gatherings to inform employees about the policy’s benefits.
Furthermore, the Sindh AIG welfare noted that the Central Welfare Branch’s helpline at the CPO is available 24/7 to assist personnel.
