The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reiterated its interest in acquiring Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and urged the privatization ministry to provide an update on its proposal.
Following an initial bid on November 1, KP is aiming to surpass the highest current offer of Rs. 10 billion from Blue World Consortium.
In a follow-up letter to Federal Minister for Privatisation Abdul Aleem Khan, KP Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT) Vice-Chairman Hassan Masood Kunwar expressed the provincial government’s intent on revitalizing PIA as the national flag carrier. He said the province was ready to invest substantial resources to restore PIA’s stature and align it with national interests.
The letter expressed KP’s eagerness to discuss the proposal further with the federal government as it remains dedicated to public service and to maintaining the PIA brand.
