India remains a stronghold for affordable cars, and Maruti Suzuki’s latest 4th-generation Dzire sedan proves that budget-friendly vehicles can also be safe and feature-rich.
Starting at $8,000, the Dzire offers essential transportation without compromising safety, even as car prices worldwide rise.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire achieved a full five-star Global NCAP crash test rating. Unlike many budget models lacking basic safety features, Dzire includes six airbags, an Electronic Stability Program (ESP), hill hold assist, and pedestrian protection. Maruti Suzuki voluntarily provided its cars for crash testing, confident in their safety despite the low cost.
Dzire has a 1.2-liter engine that produces 80 hp and 113 Nm of torque. A more economical option with CNG offers 69 hp and 102 Nm of torque. The car delivers power to the front wheels through a five-speed manual or an automated manual transmission, prioritizing fuel efficiency over speed.
Measuring 157.2 inches in length, the Dzire is compact. Despite its size, the trunk has a capacity of 382 liters, enough for small family needs. The lightest version weighs around 920 kg, adding to its efficiency and ease of handling.
Dzire includes features that enhance comfort and convenience. Higher trims come with a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, rear air vents, a wireless charger, and an electric sunroof. The 9-inch touchscreen supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offering tech usually reserved for pricier models.
Since its debut in 2008, Dzire has sold over 2.7 million units in India. Maruti Suzuki plans to expand the Dzire’s reach to Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and the ASEAN region, bringing an affordable yet safe car to new markets.
