The Punjab Traffic Police has decided to introduce the post of Junior Traffic Warden for the first time, creating a new career progression path for traffic personnel across the province.
According to a spokesperson, the City Traffic Police (CTPs) in major cities previously had no Junior Traffic Warden positions. The department will now appoint Junior Traffic Wardens in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad and Sialkot.
To support the initiative, the Punjab Traffic Police has sent 164 Senior Traffic Assistants (STAs) to the Police Training College, Sihala, where they will undergo specialized training.
After completing the training, the officers will receive promotions from Grade 9 to Grade 11 and assume their new roles as Junior Traffic Wardens. The department will also provide this level of professional training to Senior Traffic Assistants for the first time under the traffic warden system.
Head of Traffic Punjab Hammad Waqas Nazir said the creation of the new posts will strengthen the department’s organizational structure and improve traffic enforcement and management across the province.
He added that the Punjab Traffic Police will continue to promote officers on the basis of merit and seniority under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, emphasizing that departmental promotion is the right of every officer and that professional training plays a key role in improving the force’s capabilities.
