Pink Buses for Girls and Women Now Operational in Islamabad

Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Mohiuddin Ahmed Wani, announced a major breakthrough in female transportation as 99% of previously idle buses have been restored to full functionality.

Speaking at the National Assembly’s Standing Committee meeting, Wani revealed that the pink buses are now serving 8,000 girls from rural areas, enabling them to travel to urban schools safely and conveniently.

He also highlighted plans to seek additional budgetary allocations to upgrade school facilities in rural regions, aiming to provide modern amenities and bridge the urban-rural educational gap.

The operational pink bus service builds upon the government’s initiative, “No Fare No Barrier,” launched under the Prime Minister’s directive to facilitate female students and teachers. Covering rural to urban routes in Islamabad, the service ensures accessible and free transportation for women in the education sector.
