‘Namaz-e-Istisqa’ to be Held Today Across Pakistan

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the nation to collectively offer Salat-al-Istisqa, a special prayer for rain, in response to the unprecedented pollution levels affecting several major cities.

In an official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, he appealed to religious scholars and community leaders to organize these prayers across the country, especially in areas hit hardest by pollution.

The prime minister highlighted that rainfall could significantly help improve air quality and reduce pollution-related health issues. “Rain will not only benefit the environment but also aid in alleviating the spread of diseases,” he remarked.

Shehbaz directed both federal and provincial authorities to facilitate these prayers in mosques nationwide. He emphasized the importance of a unified effort, calling on citizens to seek relief from the ongoing environmental challenges through these prayers.

Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has forecasted light rains from November 14 to 16 across Punjab, potentially providing some respite to the smog-affected regions.

The prime minister expressed hope that these prayers, held with sincerity and unity, might bring much-needed rainfall, easing the current environmental and health burdens on the population.
