Marriage hall owners in Lahore have called on the government to extend their business hours, requesting permission to operate until 11:30 pm instead of the current 9 pm closure time.
During a meeting with officials from the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Friday, hall owners expressed concerns over the impact of the early shutdown on their operations and other related sectors.
LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad supported the owners’ request, emphasizing the need for more flexibility in operating hours to accommodate wedding events and the businesses connected to them. He pointed out that the early closure affects the marriage hall industry and has a ripple effect on industries such as poultry, labor, catering, and event management.
Shad highlighted the economic strain these restrictions could impose, stressing that the marriage hall sector plays a significant role in supporting various industries and providing livelihoods for many workers. He mentioned that discussions would be held with the Lahore commissioner and other relevant authorities to raise awareness of the difficulties the sector is facing.
The marriage hall owners hope that the government will reconsider the current policy and provide relief to an industry that supports multiple sectors and thousands of workers across the city.
