Boating Banned at Khanpur Lake for a Month

Deputy Commissioner Shozab Abbas has announced a month-long prohibition on boating activities at Khanpur Lake under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).

The ban will remain in effect from November 25 to December 24, aiming to address concerns regarding public safety and to prevent disputes among boat operators at the popular recreational site.

This decision follows a formal request made by the Assistant Commissioner and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khanpur, who raised concerns over the potential for unpleasant incidents and safety risks.

Their recommendations highlighted the need for immediate preventive measures to avoid any untoward situations that could arise from ongoing boating operations.

The Deputy Commissioner’s directive strictly warns against any violations of the imposed ban, stating that legal proceedings will be initiated under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against those who fail to comply.

To ensure effective enforcement of the order, the Station House Officer (SHO) has been instructed to take stringent actions, including the registration of First Information Reports (FIRs) against violators.

The ban is intended to serve as a precautionary measure to maintain public safety during the specified period. Officials have urged the public and all stakeholders to cooperate fully and adhere to the restrictions to avoid legal complications.
