Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to implement new pricing policies to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.
These policies will include changes to road tolls, parking fees, and additional charges during events. The new system is expected to launch in early 2025.
Salik Road Toll Pricing:
The Variable Road Toll Pricing, known as Salik, will be introduced by January 2025. Under this system, motorists will be able to travel toll-free between 1 am and 6 am. During peak hours on weekdays, from 6 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 8 pm, the toll will be Dh 6.
For off-peak hours, from 10 am to 4 pm and 8 pm to 1 am, the toll will drop to Dh 4. On Sundays, excluding public holidays or major events, the toll will be Dh 4 throughout the day, with the road toll again free from 1 am to 6 am.
Variable Parking Fees:
Starting in March 2025, Dubai will also introduce Variable Parking Tariffs. Premium parking spaces will cost Dh 6 per hour during morning peak hours (8 am to 10 am) and evening peak hours (4 pm to 8 pm). Other public parking spaces will charge Dh 4 per hour during these peak times. Parking will remain free at night, from 10 pm to 8 am, and all day on Sundays. The fees for off-peak hours, between 10 am and 4 pm, and from 8 pm to 10 pm, will stay the same.
Congestion Pricing:
In addition to road tolls and parking fees, Dubai will also roll out a Congestion Pricing Policy around major event areas. Starting in February 2025, public paid parking spaces near event zones will be priced at Dh 25 per hour. This policy will initially be applied around the Dubai World Trade Centre during major events.
