Sheikhupura district will observe a public holiday on December 5 to accommodate the by-election for the Punjab Assembly seat of PP-139 Ferozewala. The seat became vacant following the recent death of Rana Afzaal Hussain, who had won it earlier this year in a by-election.
In the previous election, Rana Afzaal Hussain secured 48,850 votes, defeating PTI-backed Ejaz Hussain Bhatti of the Sunni Ittehad Council, who received 30,122 votes. Rafaqat Ali of the TLP also participated, garnering 4,809 votes.
District Returning Officer Shahid Imran Marth will supervise the by-election process, with support from Returning Officer Usman Jalees and Assistant Returning Officer Adeel Khan, ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process.
The Deputy Commissioner’s Office has issued an official notification announcing the public holiday. The holiday is intended to encourage voter participation and facilitate the election process across the district.
