PIA Toy Balloon Causes Big Security Concern in India

Indian security forces and police have heightened vigilance after a balloon resembling an airplane with “Pakistan International Airlines” and the Pakistani flag printed on it was discovered near Khajuwala in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district.

The incident occurred just a few kilometers from the Pakistan-India border on Saturday. This marks the third such occurrence in the past 35 days.

Local villagers spotted the two-foot-long toy-like balloon and promptly informed the police and Border Security Force (BSF). Initial investigations revealed that the balloon did not contain any device or equipment commonly linked to surveillance activities.

Despite the absence of such devices, authorities are treating the matter with seriousness due to concerns over cross-border narcotics smuggling.

“The possibility of these balloons being used as a test or as a distraction tactic by smugglers cannot be ignored,” stated a police officer involved in the investigation.
