Abu Dhabi-based Falcon Aviation Services aims to launch air taxi services in the UAE starting January 1, 2026, according to CEO Ramandeep Oberoi.
In March 2024, Falcon Aviation partnered with US-based electric flying car manufacturer Archer Aviation to develop vertiport infrastructure in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The partnership will establish advanced vertiports at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, and the Marina Mall heliport in Abu Dhabi’s Corniche. Passenger services using Archer’s Midnight flying car will connect these vertiports, offering a scenic 30-minute journey primarily over water.
Earlier this month, Archer Aviation announced plans to conduct the first commercial flying car flight in Abu Dhabi in early 2026.
Speaking at the Mebaa 2024 exhibition in Dubai, Oberoi revealed that trials for the Midnight flying car would begin in May 2025 in Al Ain, lasting 3–4 months before moving to Abu Dhabi. These trials will focus on hot and dusty conditions, as the aircraft is currently being tested in California.
Both Abu Dhabi and Dubai are actively working to implement flying taxis as a solution to growing traffic congestion. Initially, the service will operate within Abu Dhabi, with plans to connect Abu Dhabi and Dubai by mid-2026. Future routes are expected to link Dubai with Ras Al Khaimah and Al Ain.
“Initially, this service will provide a unique experience, but it will eventually become a necessity,” Oberoi said. He also emphasized the need to create a market by integrating air taxis with the UAE’s well-developed road infrastructure.
On recruitment, Oberoi explained that the company is taking a measured approach. “We won’t hire extensively. Some team members from the US will join, alongside ground operations staff, existing vertiport handlers, and engineers,” he said.
Regarding airfares, Oberoi mentioned ongoing discussions with partners and stakeholders. “Our target is around Dh1,000 per passenger for Abu Dhabi-Dubai, possibly starting higher. The price should ideally be no more than twice that of a taxi. For within-city trips, the target fare is Dh300,” he noted while cautioning that these figures are preliminary and may change.
