Islamabad’s Temperature Drops to 0°C as Cold Wave Grips Pakistan

A biting cold wave has gripped several parts of Pakistan and the northern regions, with some areas recording record-low temperatures. According to the Meteorological Department, freezing conditions prevailed in many cities and towns, particularly mountainous areas.

The lowest temperature was recorded in Leh, which plummeted to a bone-chilling -9°C, followed by Kalam, Kalat, and Gupis at -6°C. Quetta experienced -5°C, while Skardu, Malam Jabba, Dir, and Chitral saw temperatures drop to -4°C.

Other notable readings included -3°C in Parachinar, Hunza, Durosh, and Astore. In major cities, the minimum temperatures recorded were:

The cold spell also extended to parts of Indian-administered Kashmir. Srinagar recorded -1°C, while Leh dropped to -9°C. Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Baramulla each experienced frigid temperatures of -3°C.

The Meteorological Department has advised residents to take necessary precautions, particularly in regions where temperatures are below freezing. Citizens are urged to stay indoors during peak cold hours and ensure adequate heating arrangements to avoid health risks.
